Cactus TV specialises in broad based Entertainment, Features and Chat Shows. Since the company's inception in 1994 Cactus has produced 41 distinct titles in the UK, for 10 different channels, in the last year alone almost 300 hours were broadcast.The company's format catalogue is based on the creative talents of its Managing Directors Simon and Amanda Ross. Cactus' proudest achievements include producing the highest rated entertainment show on ITV for three years running and winning one of Channel 4's biggest ever commissions.
History
In May 2001 Cactus TV rocked the industry by directly signing Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan as part of an initial two-year production deal with Channel 4. This is one of the biggest single commissions by the Channel to an independent production company. Richard & Judy was transmitted live five nights a week, from Cactus' purpose built studios in Kennington until August 2008. It attracted an average of 2.2 million viewers daily regularly reaching 2.6 million. The show generated many exclusive stories, and enjoyed a roster of high profile guests including regular appearances of Hollywood stars, and was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award and an Indie Award.
In October 2008 Richard and Judy launched a brand new show on the new UKTV channel Watch. Richard & Judy´s New Position is the lynchpin of the Watch channel schedule and contains a lively combination of high profile celebrity interviews and pioneering pop culture strands. Guests so far have included Samuel L Jackson, Josh Hartnett, Geri Halliwell along with weekly appearances of comedians Rufus Hound and Robin Ince. The show is commissioned up to 2010 and is on every weeknight at 6pm.
